Students studying

Engineering, General

Students who want to study engineering have plenty of degrees to choose from. However, there's nothing wrong with skipping out on a specialty and sticking with a general engineering major, especially if you're not certain what type of career you'd like to pursue or if you plan on studying a more specific field when you get your master's degree. While a bachelor's degree is a great start, furthering your education will help you get ahead in the engineering field. General engineering majors take many of the same classes as their counterparts who choose a specialty. They tackle courses that include calculus, differential equations, physics, and data analysis. However, coursework doesn't have to be nonspecific - elective classes can help students gain knowledge in new areas and help the learn more about their interests. As the demand for more students skilled in science, technology, math, and engineering grows, job prospects for engineering majors are plentiful.
