Overview

Originally founded as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of the State of Mississippi, Mississippi State University is a 4-year public university in eastern Mississippi. MSU is home to eight colleges and schools conferring undergraduate degrees. In addition, MSU fulfills its designation as a land-grant college through extensive agricultural research at the MAFES H.H. Leveck Animal Research Center and R.R. Foil Plant Science Research Center. Throughout the year, Mississippi State schedules a number of all-campus activities such as Super Bulldog Weekend and the Bulldog Bash, the largest free outdoor concert in the state.
