Appily FAQs
Do you have questions about Appily? Well, we have answers.

General Appily Questions
Q: What is Appily?
Appily (previously known as Cappex) is a student-focused college planning platform that helps you research, plan, and apply to college with confidence. On Appily, students can explore colleges through a powerful college search engine, discover financial aid opportunities with a comprehensive scholarship database, and use practical application support tools.
You can take virtual campus tours, compare schools side by side, and get matched with colleges that are actively interested in admitting you.
Appily brings together everything students and families need for the college exploration and admissions journey, from finding the right fit schools to navigating scholarships and applications, all in one trusted place.
Q: Why was Appily created?
Choosing a college is one of the biggest decisions students make, but the process often feels overwhelming. Before Appily, students had to jump between different college search platforms, scholarship databases, and application guides just to piece everything together.
We created Appily (formerly Cappex) to bring all of that into one place. Appily simplifies college planning by combining a powerful college search engine, a robust scholarship database, and step-by-step application support tools. Our goal is to cut through the noise, reduce stress, and give students the confidence to plan their education and future opportunities with clarity.
Q: What makes Appily different from other college platforms?
Appily is an all-in-one hub for college search, application support, scholarship matching, and virtual campus tours. While other platforms do one thing well, Appily combines everything students need in one place, saving time, stress, and dozens of browser tabs.
You’ll explore colleges, get matched, apply, and discover real scholarships—all from a single, personalized dashboard. No more bouncing between Fastweb, Naviance, Niche, or College Board.
Q: Can I trust the information on Appily?
Yes. Appily is trusted by students, parents, and counselors across the country. Our tools and resources have been shared by authoritative sources like The New York Times, NPR, MSNBC, CNN, Forbes, USA Today, Harvard, Berkley, Cornell, and countless leading education experts. Our data comes from verified school partners, federal databases, and scholarship foundations.
We’re obsessed with accuracy because your future depends on it.
Q: I’ve used other platforms. Why should I switch to Appily?
Because it’s simpler and smarter. Appily is a one-stop shop. No more multiple sites for college search, another for scholarships, and another for direct admission. Appily does all three, plus gives you virtual tours and our college planner deadline tracking, all in one dashboard. We save you clicks, time, and stress.
And we’ve got the results to prove it. Our 72% user approval rating for integrated scholarships and direct admission speaks for itself.
Q: Can counselors or family members use Appily with me?
Yes. You can share your profile with your counselor or parent by sharing your log in details or participating in Appily Match, our Direct Admissions program.
Q: Can transfer students or adult learners use Appily?
Yes. If you're switching schools, finishing a degree, or returning to college after time away, Appily supports your journey. Use filters to find transfer-friendly schools or explore programs designed for adult learners.
Q: How does Appily help adult learners choose online or graduate programs?
Appily Advance is built specifically for working adults, grad students, and career-changers. Visit advance.appily.com to explore accredited online programs, compare costs, and get guidance on returning to school.
Q: What is Appily Serve?
Appily Serve is your go-to hub for exploring military education benefits. From tuition assistance and scholarships to leadership programs, we have it all in one place. Appily Serve helps service members and military‑connected students plan and pay for college while serving.
Q: What is Appily Match direct admissions?
Appily Match is a direct admission feature that connects students to colleges that want them, before they even apply. Think of it like this: colleges apply to you!
Once your profile is complete, colleges can review your GPA, coursework, major interests, and location. If you’re a good fit, they send you real admission offers... no separate app required. And usually, scholarships come with these admission offers.
This means less stress, faster decisions, and more control over your future. You get to see which schools are ready to invest in you, early in senior year.
Q: Am I locked in if I accept a match offer from a college?
No. You are always in control. Appily Match is designed to open doors, not lock you in. If you accept an offer, that college knows you’re seriously interested and will follow up with the next steps (like confirming financial aid or submitting final transcripts). But it’s non-binding until you choose to enroll.
If you change your mind, you can decline the offer and explore other options, whether that’s applying elsewhere, comparing aid packages, or taking a gap year.
Q: How do I remove a transcript from my Appily direct admissions profile?
Uploaded the wrong transcript, or ready to share an updated one? No problem. You can upload a new transcript anytime in your Appily profile—we’ll always use the most recent version you’ve added.
If you’d like to remove it completely, your direct admissions profile lives on Appily Match. Just sign in with your email or log in through the email you got when you received your first direct admissions offer. From there, you’ll be able to manage or remove your transcript.
