General Appily Questions

Q: What is Appily?

Appily (formerly Cappex) is a free college-planning platform that helps students find, compare, and get scholarships to pay for college in one place.

Students can use Appily to search for colleges, compare costs, find scholarships, explore majors, take virtual tours, get admission advice, and build a college list. Appily also includes Appily Match, our direct admissions experience that helps colleges connect with students who may be a good fit.

Q: Why was Appily created?

College planning can feel like way too much: one site for college search, another for scholarships, another for applications, and another for deadlines. Appily was created to bring the most important pieces of the process together in one place.

With Appily, students can explore colleges, understand fit and cost, find scholarships, and move forward with more confidence. The goal is simple: make college planning clearer, less stressful, and easier to act on.

Q: What makes Appily different from other college platforms?

Appily brings college search and comparison, scholarship matching, virtual tours, admissions support, planning tools, and Appily Match direct admissions together in one free student platform. No more bouncing between windows and accounts.

Q: Can I trust the information on Appily?

Yes. Appily uses verified college, vetted scholarship, and expert admissions information to help you make more informed decisions.

Our college and scholarship data come from school partners, public data sources, and trusted scholarship providers. We work to keep information accurate and useful because students, families, and counselors rely on Appily to make real college decisions.

Our tools and resources have been shared by sources like The New York Times, NPR, MSNBC, CNN, Forbes, USA Today, Harvard, Berkley, Cornell, and countless leading education experts.

Q: I’ve used other platforms. Why should I switch to Appily?

Because it’s simpler and smarter. Appily is a one-stop shop. No more multiple sites for college search, another for scholarships, and another for direct admission. Appily does all three, plus gives you virtual tours and our college planner deadline tracking, all in one dashboard. We save you clicks, time, and stress. And we’ve got the results to prove it. Our 72% user approval rating for integrated scholarships and direct admission speaks for itself.

Q: Can counselors or family members use Appily with me?

Yes. Parents, guardians, and counselors can support you as you use Appily to explore colleges, scholarships, costs, and next steps.

For privacy and security, we would not recommend sharing your login details. Instead, you can invite the people you want to share their dashboard with, and choose what information you want them to see.

Q: Can transfer students or adult learners use Appily?

Yes. If you're switching schools, finishing a degree, or returning to college after time away, Appily supports your journey. Use filters to find transfer-friendly schools or explore programs designed for adult learners.

Appily Serve is your go-to hub for exploring military education benefits. From tuition assistance and scholarships to leadership programs, we have it all in one place. Appily Serve helps service members and military‑connected students plan and pay for college while serving.

Q: How does Appily help me find colleges that fit me?

Appily helps students find colleges that match their academic profile, interests, goals, budget, location preferences, and campus priorities. Instead of starting with a generic list of schools, students can use Appily to explore colleges based on what matters most to them, including majors, admissions fit, cost, scholarships, student life, and location.

Appily’s college search and matching tools can help you build a balanced college list with reach, target, and likely schools, compare options side by side, and discover colleges you may not have found on your own. It is designed to make college search feel less overwhelming, especially for students who are still figuring out what kind of college experience they want.

Q: What is a college match tool?

A college match tool helps students discover colleges that fit their academic background, personal preferences, financial needs, and future goals. The best college match tools look beyond name recognition and help students compare schools by factors like major, location, cost, admissions profile, campus life, and scholarship opportunities.

Appily’s college match experience helps students search, compare, and organize colleges so they can build a list that feels realistic, affordable, and personal.

Appily Match Direct Admissions Questions

Q: What is Appily Match?

Appily Match is Appily’s direct admissions experience. It helps colleges connect with students who may be a good fit based on information in their Appily profile.

Here’s how it works: students complete their profiles with details such as GPA, coursework, academic interests, and location preferences. Participating colleges can then identify students who match their criteria and send out admission offers or next steps.

Appily Match gives students another way to discover colleges, including schools they may not have found on their own.

Q: Is Appily Match the same as direct admissions?

Yes. Appily Match is a direct admissions experience. That means colleges can connect with students first, based on the student’s profile and fit.

Some Appily Match opportunities may include scholarship offers, depending on the college. Students are always in control of whether they want to learn more, accept an offer, or keep exploring other options.

Q: Am I locked in if I accept a match offer from a college?

No. Appily Match is designed to open doors, not lock you into a decision.

If you accept a match offer, the college will follow up with next steps, which may include confirming details, reviewing financial aid, or requesting final transcripts. You are not committed to enrolling until you choose to enroll.

Appily Tools & Calculators Questions

Q: Is Appily’s acceptance calculator accurate?

Appily’s acceptance calculator provides an estimate, not a guarantee.

The calculator uses information like GPA, test scores when available, and college admissions data to help students understand how their profile may compare with admitted students at a school. Admissions decisions can depend on many factors, so students should use the calculator as one planning tool, not a final answer.

Q: How are my chances calculated?

Appily estimates admissions chances by comparing information from your profile, such as GPA, test scores when available, and academic interests, with available admissions data for each college.

The result is meant to help you build a balanced college list with likely, target, and reach schools. It does not guarantee admission.

Q: How are my matches calculated?

Appily recommends college matches based on information you add to your profile, including academic interests, GPA, test scores when available, location preferences, cost preferences, and the schools you add to your list.

The more complete your profile is, the more useful your recommendations can become.
