About Appily

Q: What is Appily?

A: Appily is the best place on the Internet for students to plan, decide, and apply to college with confidence. Students using Appily can learn about colleges and scholarships, take virtual tours, get resources for their college exploration process, and even get matched with colleges that are interested in admitting them. 

Q: Why was Appily created?

A: College planning is stressful enough – students shouldn’t have to juggle multiple sources of college information and planning resources. We knew that we could simplify the journey for students and give them the resources they need to navigate the journey with confidence. That’s why we created Appily. 

 

Q: Is Appily safe?

A: Yes! Appily is owned by EAB, a long-standing and well-respected partner to thousands of colleges and universities across the country. We are committed to providing the latest and most extensive college search information while protecting student privacy and data. We use a rigorous screening process to review scholarships before adding them to our scholarship database. 

Q: Is Appily free?

A: Yes! Appily is free for students, parents/guardians, counselors, high schools, and CBOs. 

Q: Is Appily a scam?

A: Appily is not a scam. Appily is a free, quick, and easy-to-use resource that simplifies the college discovery, application, and decision process.   

Q: Is Appily accurate?

A: Yes. Appily uses student data and preferences to help match students with schools and scholarships that meet their preferences. For instance, if students share their GPA and test scores, Appily can tell students their chances of getting accepted into the colleges on their list.   

Q: Is Appily reliable?

A: Yes. Appily is one of the very best college research websites because we provide verified and up to date information on colleges and universities, scholarships, and majors. Appily partners with institutions to ensure we have the most accurate information to give students, parents/guardians, and counselors the inside track on the admissions process.  

Q: Is Appily only for high school students?

A: No. Appily can help students of all ages and stages find and pay for college. Our College Transfer Center is designed to guide college students through the transfer process. Appily Advance assists adult students returning to college and college graduates in finding master’s and doctoral programs.  

Data Use & Privacy

Q: How does Appily protect student data?

Q: What is student data used for?

A: We use the information we collect to create products and services and to customize the student experience using Appily. We also use the information we collect and receive to improve our site.   

For example, we use data to better tailor content to user needs and preferences, such as providing more relevant scholarships or advertisements, generating and analyzing statistics about the use of Appily, and developing new products and services.  

Q: Do colleges receive student information?

Scholarships 

Q: What scholarship does Appily offer?

A: Appily offers an up to date scholarship database students can filter by specific interests and personal attributes to find opportunities for which they are eligible. Appily also offers a monthly $1,000 Meet Appily Scholarship that’s only available to students through their counselors. Appily Match

Q: What is Appily Match?

A: Appily Match is a streamlined college admissions process where colleges make proactive admissions offers without requiring students to submit applications, essays, test scores, or recommendation letters. Click here to learn how you can bring Match to your students.

Q: How does Appily Match work?

A: With Appily Match, students create free 30-minute profiles outlining their qualifications and personal and educational interests. Profiles are then certified before anonymized versions are shared with colleges and universities based on the criteria they’ve identified. A: No. Match is designed to bring students more options, not limit opportunities. Students are not required to enroll at an institution that admits them through Match, and students can use Match in addition to completing traditional applications. Calculations

Q: How does the Chances Calculator work?

A:Appily uses an algorithm based on the average data points of students admitted to each school. To estimate a students’ acceptance probability, we consider variables relevant to the college selection and admissions process, such as GPA and test scores.

Q: How are colleges recommended to students?

A: Appily suggests personalized college matches based on students’ test scores, GPA, and location. As students complete their profiles, add preferences, and begin to build their college lists, Appily will be able to recommend better matches.

Q: How can students improve their recommendations?

A: Since Appily uses an algorithm to calculate college matches and chances, the more accurate and comprehensive information students provide, the better our recommendations will be. We strongly encourage students to complete their profile in its entirety, sharing test scores, GPA, high school, and other relevant data points to give the algorithm a complete picture of their current situation.
