University of Wisconsin-Madison
Overview
From its main campus located atop a hilltop in Wisconsin’s state capital, the University of Wisconsin-Madison is a 4-year public institution and the flagship campus of the UW system. Founded in 1848 at the same time that Wisconsin achieved statehood, UW Madison is home to 24 colleges and schools offering undergraduate degrees in over 200 academic majors. All UW classes are centered around “The Wisconsin Idea,” a theory that education should positively affect students’ lives outside of the classroom. For a break from the rigors of academia, UW students flock to State Street, a pedestrian-friendly avenue through downtown Madison featuring coffee shops, restaurants, and a comedy club.

REVIEWS
Read What Students Are SayingIf you are finding yourself having troubles, there are many people available to help you. Professors are all required to have open office hours and will usually meet with you outside of them if you ask. Graduate TAs are often excellent resources as well. Also, most libraries have tutoring programs in a variety of subjects.
If you are interested in getting more involved in your learning, join a research lab! Each program conducts research and many welcome undergrads. It is a great way to get to know leading researchers in the field and looks great on a resume. Much tuition goes toward research so I highly recommend getting involved!
