Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

Out of state tuition is gruesome in this economy! But there is truly no where I'd rather be than an ECU pirate!
Purple and Gold, Greenville NC
Even though the classes are much more intense than I thought, the professors here make sure you understand what your learning!
Stephanie from Monroe, NC
Since enrolling at East Carolina University, I have learned what it means to merge and accept other peoples opinions and different points of view on religion, politics, humanity, etc. I have also learned and educated myself so much, and have finally began to see my education and degree paying off through my job, and how I speak educated than how I did before I came to ECU.
Brandon from Greenville, NC
East Carolina is a good school espicially if you enjot learning. Many classes are offered and are very interesting. You must study if you want to do well. Grades here are not handed out ( like most schools.) Teachers do expect a lot from you, however, if you do your work, you'll be good.
Olivia
east carolina university is a great university with great professors as well. everyone here is committed to receiving and giving the best education possible. everyone here at ecu is more than proud to be a pirate!!
Stephanie from Asheboro, NC
East Carolina University is very heavy on the academics. The professors here are kind and really wants you to succeed. They allow students to come to their office hours anytime you are struggling, and would even offer to stay after! If that doesn't help, East Carolina University has eager tutors yearning to aid you in the infamous Joyner Library. Learning here is synonymous with the time that you put in your studies. You can do it!
Tyree' from Greenville, NC
There are a lot of things to learn on this campus. Knowing that there are many different people and cultures, learning new things daily is what there is to look forward to.
Dale from Sanford, NC
This school challenges one academically as well as socially. It allows one to branch out and find new groups of friends through constant activities held on and off campus. If you have the desire to make life long connections as well as learn information about your intended career that will last a life time, then this is the school for you.
Jana from Charlotte, NC
East Carolina is one of the best universities in North Carolina! It's a hidden gem! It has so much to offer! You will never be bored here and you will find the classes challenging and rewarding!
Kristyn from Holly Springs, NC
East Carolina has a beautiful campus. There is so much to do and plenty of time to do it. The community is extremely close and there is always something fun going on.
Madeline from Richmond, VA
