Overview

At the University of Oklahoma, we put our pride to work. We strive for excellence beyond the classroom, beyond the lab, and beyond the playing field. We transcend borders and create a place of belonging for all. There's Only One Oklahoma.

From the moment you step on the OU campus, you’ll find what keeps the OU spirit alive: A collective community. Meaningful connection. Academic excellence. All of this and more combines to ensure you will have the experience, education, and community you need to thrive at OU and beyond.

On a campus of 22,000 undergraduates, students enjoy the advantages of a flagship, public research institution while also being part of a group that is small enough to foster a deep connection to the OU family. OU is a pacesetter for public higher education, offering 170+ majors and earning the Carnegie Institution’s Very High Research Activity classification.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

OU professors really teach you to think for yourself, especially your English professors. OU professor also teach you different research skills. You really do have to study a lot to make the grade but it is worth it. There are so many diverse programs at OU that I am sure that you will be able to find the right program for you.
Jayla from Tulsa, OK
At the University of Oklahoma you will learn so much in each of your classes. Your professors not only teach you valuable skills for your major, they teach you life long lessons as well. Although some class sizes may be larger than smaller universities, the professors are still there for you every step of the way. They invite you to their office hours and are very concerned with how each student is doing in their class.
Elle from Oklahoma City, OK
Just from talking to other students you can learn a lot if you put the work into it. You can't blow off things. I know in high school you could get an A in a class and still know nothing. Not OU the professors are world-class and teach because they want you to learn and understand it so that you can use it.
Tonya from Pampa, TX
I did learn a lot. The lecture classes are large but the harder classes like science and math have smaller groups were you get more attention and practice. The English classes are even capped to be under 20 students! It's an awesome set up they have going. It's a nice median between party school and study school. The Library is awesome, during midterms and finals the LIBRARY becomes the hang out spot.
Samantha from Lewisville, TX
OU is home to the most National Merits.
OU is home to the Big 12 Championships of 2015.
OU is home to the most international students who are UWC (United World College) Davis scholars.
Julia from Edmond, OK
I took 2 AP classes in high school and studied often. I took a lighter workload and after my first semester at OU, I found that classes were not as difficult as I anticipated. Since OU is a public university, the class sizes are definitely bigger, but in no way does it hinder my ability to learn. The professors are very proactive and encourage you to study in groups, attend their office hours, and find graduate student tutors, anything that helps you succeed in your classes.
Marissa from Pacifica, CA
You will learn tons if you attend every class and do everything the professors ask of you. Take accurate notes and read over them after every class before exams. This helps tremendously, especially around finals week.
Siobhan from El Paso, TX
The University of Oklahoma has a wealth of opportunity to offer. It is a beautiful campus and the classes are kept small to offer individual attention to students. It also offers a lot of ways to get involved and give back to the community as well as ways to further your education or make connections that can last a lifetime.
Brianna from Frisco, TX
Most of my professors at OU have been very good and actually care about their students. No one will hold your hand through college, but they definitely encourage independent thinking and hard work. OU emphasizes a liberal arts education, so they require you to take classes outside of your major: 3 semesters of a foreign language, classes in art, history, English, ect. Although this requirement might seem like a pain, I have taken classes that I would have never taken otherwise and consequently have learned a lot!
Kathryn from Norman, OK
The University of Oklahoma has been a great experience for me, although the campus is huge and there are thousands of students, don't assume that you'll just be a number to your professor. The professors are very friendly and supportive if you need help with anything. I recommend getting to know your professors, roommates, and classmates so that you can make your experience here just as memorable.
Kacey from Wagoner, OK
