Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

Even though UK is a pretty big school, they make it more like a small school by keeping many classes with a low student to teacher ratio, so you receive more one on one time with your instructor, which makes it easier to grasp the bigger concepts and master the small ones.
Kristen from Pickerington, OH
I've only been here for one semester and I've already learned SO much. The professors I have are quality professors that care about their students. Even though the university is of an exceptionally large size, the classes are an average size of 25 students so you can still get one on one with your teacher. There are also tons of resources for learning, including the W.T. Young Library which happens to be gigantic. If you need a quiet place to study, you are guaranteed to find it at the Willy T.
Kelsey from Georgetown, KY
There are a lot of things that I am learning in every class! Some people think that the larger class sizes are not beneficial- but I disagree. Everyone has something to contribute to the class, and my larger classes are what teach me the most. If you're open to others' opinions, you will learn something new everyday. Often when I sit down for lunch, at least one person has something interesting that they learned about in class recently that starts a discussion among the table. What makes the learning experience even better at UK is that the teachers are currently researching their field, meaning the students learn the most up-to-date material. It also helps the students to keep up with current events. Overall, I really like the way my learning experience is going!
Theresa from Lousiville, KY
Everyday that I go to class I am grateful and I feel as if my time was spent in a more efficient way. I listens to my profesor as he/she explains the material, and surely my mind is being stretched, and the way that I look at the world is completely changed. Overall the education is amazing!
Demetria from LOUISVILLE, KY
my school, although huge, makes you feel like your at a small school with professors who actually care for your academics; my school works very hard to make sure that we the students are getting the help we need no matter what subject in school or what problems in life, there's always help. importantly, this school works hard to get you involved so that you can make friends and just be connected!
Anujin from Elk Grove Village, IL
The University of Kentucky has provided me with a great sense of culture and community. They have proved to have courses that are meaningful and rigorous. I have learned a lot about how to commit myself to a program fully to allow me to be successful.
Garrett from Lexington, KY
I love the new dorms!!! Where else can a college student get a room with tempur-pedic mattresses granite countertops?? It is by far the most comfortable dorm arrangements I saw during my many college visiting trips. There was no comparison, really.
Abigail - Farmington Hills, MI
the university of kentucky-lexington is growing by leaps and bounds! there is lots of construction going on all around campus. in addition, all the administrators were welcoming as i explored the campus. i see blue!
marini from chicago, il
the university is a very beautiful place if you ignore all the construction being done at the moment. everyone at the school are extremely nice people and are there help you. there are tons of opportunities for you to have fun and also be successful in your studies.
adrian from pittsburgh, pa
The University of Kentucky is a school with limitless opportunities. Whether you're just being a part of a 30,000 student community and supporting the Wildcats, or working in a small group to promote something you care about, there is a place for everyone at UK. You are never just another number.
Caitlin from Evarts, KY
