Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. I am in the Nursing associate degree program right now. It is a tough program, but is defiantly worth it. You get action first semester when you have your clinical at Nursing Homes.
Celestine from Greensboro, NC
Norfolk State University not only provides a very high standard of learning in the academic realm, but also promotes growth in the individual. As a pre-nursing major, I have attained a lot of information that will help me to excel in my field of choice. However, NSU has also helped me to develop characteristics that will aid me in becoming a contributing member of society, such as responsibility and independence.
Shakyra from Norfolk , VA
The classes and professors at Norfolk State are great. There is so much to learn and gain from the materials taught as well as the professors. The professors do not mind explaining the materials thoroughly, and they encourage everyone to ask questions.
Kristan from Chesapeake, VA
The staff at NSU is great and help me with a lot.
Kanisha from Waverly, VA
I have friends that have attended Norfolk, and they have earned as high as Masters degrees. I expect to learn alot and to achieve my educational goals at Norfolk State.
Dalton from Monroe, NC
Norfolk State University is a well rounded academic school. I have attained more information pertaining to the field I plan to enter in the last several semester. I wanted to be in a school that challenges my mind in every aspect of knowledge and trust me when I say this, that NSU is the one school I know that will do just that.
Angela from Portsmouth, VA
I think this would be a great college to attend. I know a few individuals who attend or have attended and one of them is going back for their master's degree. I have also been on campus and find that the environment is very positive and will help in learning process. The students are also very helpful when it comes to getting around on campus.
Tameka from Portsmouth, VA
Norfolk State University is low cost and has numerous programs to help students. It is located in a ghetto neighborhood but once you get on campus, you will be fine. As with any school, you get out of it what you put into it.
NotSoStarvingStudent
This school is absolutely amazing! Not only are you able to branch out and learn so many things, but you also get to meet new people and make new friends. There are so many things you can do here.
Sharice from Hampton, VA
The faculty at Norfolk State University will do what it takes to help students make sure they understand concepts necessary in order to do well in the class. Also, Norfolk State University faculty challenges students to put in extra work and by doing so the students will learn more material by going the extra mile in their classes.
Brandon from Chesapeake, VA
