Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

I am planning on majoring in biology. If science or the medical field is what you are looking at, BVU is the place to go. It has one of the best science departments in Iowa and has a very cool medical internship program at the local hospital.
Beth from Mapleton, IA
I am really learning a lot at BV. This school is really challenging me academically along with helping me achieve my dreams. The professors challenge the students in order to make them better, for me that means my science professors are helping me learn more about science and what I might later see in the MCAT as my dream is to later apply to medical school and become a doctor.
Ayla from Dyer, IN
Everyday I learn something new from the teachers and students on campus. I learned that smaller schools are great schools to go to if you are really worried bout your education; they want you to pass higher than a C (you can only pass classes if you have a C or higher)
Ashley from Saint Louis, MO
Buena Vista University has a beautiful campus and great facilities to make it feel right at home. Students are very friendly and professors have a passion for what they do. It is a well-rounded awesome school.
Austin from Bondurant, IA
I transfered from a community college to Buena Vista University. The college advisors have been so helpful in setting up my classes. I would suggest this college to anyone.
Katrina from Emmetsburg, IA
BVU is a small university nestled in the quaint town of Storm Lake. It is a university known for its science department. Overall, many students find it to be a school and home for them.
Abigail from Waukee, IA
I rate Buena Vista University 8/10.
Because Buena Vista is a smaller University, the teachers and faculty have always been able to help me, making my first semester a fantastic one. Buena Vista University is also a place where I can express my creativity in their 24 hour art studios and experience different opportunities.
Makenzie from Glenville, MN
The family feel and excellent education at Buena Vista University makes BVU 9 out of 10 in my book. It is by far a top of the line university.
Krystal from Carroll , IA
There is a wide array of programs to choose from, and the instructors have real world experience in the subjects they are teaching.
Jenna from Albia, IA
