Originally founded as a combination high school/private Congregational school, Washburn University is a 4-year university in the Kansas state capital of Topeka. Washburn hosts five colleges conferring undergraduate degrees in over 200 academic fields of study. For students interested in the fine and performing arts, the WU campus is home to the Mulvane Art Gallery displaying student work as well as the White Concert Hall and Gray Theatre hosting musical and dramatic performances produced by students and faculty. To provide a break from the classroom, Washburn fields 16 men’s and women’s athletic teams known as the Ichabods, a nod to the university’s founder.
