Overview

Salem has educated aspiring leaders to change the world since 1772, when it was founded on the then-revolutionary premise that women are extraordinary leaders. 250 years later, Salem is again revolutionary as the nation's only liberal arts college focused on training future leaders in health. A nationally-ranked liberal arts college in one of America's best college cities, Salem's IMPACT curriculum and innovative SOAR leadership program blend experiential learning with science, design, humanities, ethics, and art ... all the tools to allow Salem graduates to become innovative problem solvers who make their communities and the world a better, healthier, more equitable place.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

Because it's a small classroom setting the teachers can give you all the help and attention you need to really learn the material
Tiffany from High Point, NC
Salem has so many great professors and I have already learned so much.
Katie from Knoxville, TN
Warm, welcoming, friendly and filled with history. Are some of the buildings really haunted? I did not see any ghosts. Salem is organized and focused on providing a world class education in a nurturing environment. The city of Winston Salem is officially titled as City of Arts and Technology. Reciprocal courses are available at Wake Forest College.
ANASTASIA from Hallandale Beach, FL

Salem is an academically excellent school. I have been blessed enough to learn tremendous amounts of information. It is based on the small classroom sizes and the great experience of the professors. Also, professors are available almost anytime you need them and they work with you one on one if you need them to!

Krista from Pilot Mountain, NC
This school has small class sizes which allows you to get to know everyone in your class, and for the teacher to know you. The campus isn't overly large allowing you just enough to get lost if needed, but be easily available, and it doesn't hurt that it's gorgeous with a lot of places within walking distance. The events and traditions the school holds makes it a school of sisters.
Catherine from Cape Coral, FL
Salem offers a community that students can belong to. It's academic and support staff work with you to accomplish your goals. The historic atmosphere and grounds of the campus is a huge plus especially when the workload is heavy and a peaceful nature walk is right outside of your classroom.
Melissa from Lexington, NC
With a warm and welcoming environment, all students are sure to feel right at home in the Salem community. A strong sense of sisterhood forms inseparable bonds between the girls and an encouraging staff creates opportunities for excellent grades.
Falon from Roxboro, NC
