Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.

The faculty at Oakwood is wonderful. The teachers don't only teach the information in the textbook, but they also teach from the Bible. This is great because, in the end, the only wisdom that will truly count is what we learn from the Bible and apply to our lives. It doesn't matter what subject they're teaching. They all find some way to tie it into the Bible. I came from public school, so I was not used to this kind of teaching structure because it is not allowed. All of my teachers started class off with a devotional thought and/or prayer. I know that set the tone of how the class went. These teachers are truly a blessing because they are teaching us information that you cannot put a price on.
Kelcie from Madison, AL
I learned a lot while attending Oakwood, both inside and outside of class. The school brings in wonderful speakers to talk to the students at different times. The motto, Enter to Learn Depart to Serve is definitely a phrase that Oakwood University stands true to.
Tasha from Virgin Islands-U.U.
Located between the rolling hills of Huntsville Alabama, Oakwood University is a private university with a concentration on the academic as well as spiritual growth of students. Academic focus ranges from music to cytotechnology, depicting the geographic diversity as well. Oakwood University stands to focus on the enrichment of the individual to produce the growth of a community as a whole.
Amanda from Atlanta, GA
Oakwood is different in many ways. The experience you'll receive will change your life and perspective. The people you'll meet will become family!
DeMeatria from Whiteville, NC
The most of teachers here are great. Although it can be quite difficult to understand them, because of the accents, they do know what they are talking about. Some will even help you out a lot when you assignments are late!
Camilla from Huntsville, AL
Both of my parents went to this college and they say that it was one of the most enriching environments that they've ever been in. It must be wonderful to be surrounded by people of your skin color who believe the same as you do and who want nothing more than to do well in school and to build their relationship with God. This college is high on my list as far as schools that I am thinking of attending.
K. R.
Oakwood University is an outstanding place to study. I say this because it is an institution that is very clear about the products it sells to its student-customers. These products are: Spiritual life, Leadership (academic, personal and global) and Life-time Relationships.
Julian from Berrien Springs, MI
I am looking forward to my college experience and learning new things.
Daniel from Madison, MS
