Overview

Originally founded as a private school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church, Clarendon College transitioned into a public 2-year community college in 1927 and has continued to operate as such for the past eight decades. It serves eight surrounding counties in the Texas panhandle and remains the oldest continually operating institution of higher learning in that region. Incoming students taking dual credit courses in high school are invited to enroll in Clarendon’s Honors College to complete the school’s core curriculum over two long semesters. Honors College students then gain access to advisors who aid in transferring to Texas Tech and West Texas A&M.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.
