Overview

Lansing Community College is a public, 2-year institution located in the state of Michigan. The campus features a number of state-of-the-art facilities, including two fitness centers, a library with rentable technology, and two gaming stations. Along with offering heavily discounted textbooks, LCC also offers a collection of Open Education Resources to all students enrolled, which are free, digital textbooks and learning materials approved by faculty and tailored to many available classes. High school students entering their junior year can enroll in the college’s Early College program, which allows students the opportunity to earn 60 college credits free of charge.

The professors here are great. The professor to student ratio is not huge, so help is always there when it is needed. There are many classes to choose from, so picking classes is easy. The curriculum for courses here are strict and well structured.

I've been at LCC for three semesters doing all of my general education or core classes before transferring to Calvin College. While I have learned a lot in some classes, others are just faster paced and only slightly more in depth than classes I took in high school. Most of my professor have been great but like at every college or university professors can be hit or miss.

I enjoy learning at LCC. My only disappointment is that there seems to be more busy work just for the sake of habit then for reason of learning. My best learning has come from classes that are engaged in the classroom and make us think outside the box rather than just working on assignments.

I think it all depends on the class you are taking and what level of interest you have in the subject. Some classes like math 107 are very easy because it is mostly stuff the you have learned in high school. I am taking MGMT 231 right now and I am learning so much. This is a subject that I never had in high school and I am very interested in management so it really keeps my attention for the entire class. I have also had professors that just mumble on for 3 hours and that makes it very hard to learn because you zone out so much. When a professor is energetic about the topic I learn so much more, just because it seems like they have a passion for the subject and they make it fun to learn about it.

If you take a lot of the lower level classes I really think you aren't going to learn much unless you didn't pay attention in high school. Once you start getting to the higher level classes the professors make you interact with your classmates a lot more and you start learning a lot that way.

I have went on many visits to this college and i like the work they do very friendly staff and keeps everything in order and is easy to learn from them they are very descriptive.
