Not only will you get a chance to learn about many types of arts, you will also have the choice to specialize if you do find an area that really speaks to you. Learning to communicate effectively through artistic mediums is central to the design and visual communications major. Classes will include different design and communication theories, art, and even specialized topics like illustration or interior design. Career opportunities exist in a number of areas. You may find yourself working for an advertising agency, film or video production company, public relations firm, or graphic design firm. Other graduates further their education so they can teach at the elementary or high school level.
