Overview

Founded in an elementary school basement, Bates Technical College has grown to become a 2-year technical institution with three locations in Tacoma. Bates is home to 16 academic areas of study conferring degrees and certificates including Transportation Technology and Architecture & Construction. In addition, Bates hosts nine apprenticeship training programs enabling students to be paid as they complete their coursework. Throughout the school year, Bates hosts a number of events promoting diversity including a Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and a Disability Awareness Day.
