Overview

Alaska Pacific University is a small, private institution established in the city of Anchorage. APU’s scenic campuses consist of a main campus with 175 acres of wooded land, and a remote, 900-acre education center located on a private farm in the city of Palmer. The school offers a number of uncommon degree options, such as Alaska Native Governance, Outdoor Studies, and Marine & Environmental Sciences. High school seniors can take advantage of APU’s Early Start program, which allows them to live on campus and complete their last year of high school and first year of college simultaneously.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.
