


Valley City State University
Overview
Originally founded as a teacher’s college in 1890, Valley City State University is an institution specializing in training future educators along with 80 other undergraduate programs. US News & World Report named VCSU the number one public regional college of the Midwest and has ranked the university among America’s Best Colleges for 20 consecutive years. Beyond academia, VCSU engages the community on a variety of topical issues with a series of films and guest speakers called “What in the World is Going On?” The VCSU campus overlooks the scenic Sheyenne River valley and features Medicine Wheel Park, a stretch of green space that includes two solar calendars, the North Country National Scenic Trail, and Native American burial mounds.
