Overview
Saint Joseph's College of Maine is a liberal arts college that was founded in 1912 by the Sisters of Mercy, and it is the only Catholic college in Maine. The Mercy tradition is encouraged at Saint Joseph’s through volunteering, service trips, Respect Life Sunday, and the student organization Mercy Service Corps. SJC also features the Center for Faith and Spirituality to encourage dialogue amongst different faiths represented on campus. The college is taking the initiative to become more sustainable by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, recycling, and using compost stations.

Read What Students Are SayingThe teachers at St. Joe's are very friendly and welcome questions at any time. At the beginning of the semester you will be given their office hours and they tell you, you can always email them or go up to their office for help. The class size ranges from 20-25 students. This gives students a lot of one on one with teachers if they need it.

Saint Joe's has an extremely wide curriculum which lets you choose which classes interest you for your electives. Of course there are courses required which you must take, but if you pay attention, ask the professor for help (which they are ecstatic about doing), and learn an effective way to study for you, you will do well. With all the information that you are privy to, it's phenomenal how much you learn! I'm in my sophomore year and I still remember the smallest facts from the beginning of my freshman year.
