What Students Are Saying
If you are interested in coming here you will need to stay focused, do not procrastinate or cheat, study, and have fun. Make sure you make the best of your college experience but keep in mind work comes first. I know a lot of first time freshman that could have done better their first semester. Do not become wild because you are finally free. Just remember that your work comes first no matter what! If you do this and your best, you will leave VSU successful.
Marcel Smith
Manage your time wisely! If you really want to have the best possible college experience, manage your time wisely.
Steven from Valdosta, GA
Do not stay in your dorm all the time, of course you are supposed to come to college to get an education but it is supposed to be memorable! Get out there and have fun! Be sure to know how to balance out school and your social life.
Lisa Cordella
Attend Valdosta State University and trust me, you will love it! But also be mindful of your financial status. Try to avoid loans as much as possible. Have realistic goals and do not allow someone to pressure you into choosing a school that is not right for you! Go and explore campuses and take your time to figuring out what best suits you!
Sandra from Columbus, GA
If you are considering Valdosta State University as your future college, i think you should come. VSU is very nice, and you will receive a wonderful education. Don't be nervous about the transition at all. VSU gives the students the independence they need while also making sure that they are protected.
Tempest from Valdosta, GA
Make sure to come to Valdosta with an open mind. In your first few weeks you will meet tons of people. Make sure to hang around a good group of friends, and avoid fake ones. Make good choices and stay focused.
Corey
View the campus before starting. It can be confusing with it being spread across Patterson Street in Valdosta.

Don't be discouraged by the smaller size of the school. The education you receive here is just as great as any bigger, more well-known school.
Sarah from Valdosta, GA
If you are going to live in the dorms, bring a microwave and your own fridge! That way you can keep the foods you want to share and don't care to share separated and 90% of the food you will eat is microwave friendly. In my opinion, after going here for 3 years now, do NOT get the meal plans with the dining options! Get the one that is $950. It will teach you how to budget, how to make use of the deals on campus, can be used in all dining areas and the two markets. Besides, Palms and Hopper dining have been known to not taste good at all and both cost $9 to get in (as of Fall '14) and even then majority of the stations are limited to what you can get.
Also, make sure that you will enjoy the degree you declare! You will be here for at least 4 years, so be happy in what you do and make sure it is what you want.

If your thinking about becoming a student here at VSU I would recommend you get on the ball with early registration. Also research a few of the organizations here before you start your academic year because getting involved is really the thing to do especially if you are one who thinks you might start missing home getting involved and meeting new people here is really more important than you initially would think.
