Maharishi International University
Overview
Maharishi International University is built on the idea of “consciousness-based education,” which encourages students to gain deep self-knowledge while earning undergrad and advanced degrees. MIU has programs in 10 academic departments that all run on a block schedule, meaning students only take one course at a time. Located in Fairfield, Iowa, the 370-acre campus is home to a 60,000-square-foot recreation center and a dining hall featuring an entirely organic vegetarian menu, the first American institution of higher learning to offer such a food plan. MIU is also the first university in the country to offer bachelor’s programs in Sustainable Living and Consciousness & Human Potential
