


Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Overview
Founded in 1962 using a grant from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Institute of American Indian Arts is a tribal college focusing on Native American artwork. Alongside bachelor degrees in creative programs like Studio Arts and Creative Writing, the IAIA also offers an associate’s degree in Native American Studies and a certificate in Native American Art History. Student art is displayed at the Balzer Contemporary Edge Gallery and the campus is also home to The IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, the only museum in America dedicated entirely to collecting and displaying modern Native artwork.
