The University of Findlay is a very good and rigorous school. Most of the professors are very easy to get along with and they are passionate about their jobs. The campus itself is very small which makes everything convenient and a little more enjoyable in the winter.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Visit the campus! You will fall in love with it! Try to find a current student with the same major you're looking at and see what they have to say. There's a perfect college for everyone, you just have to find it.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
Be prepared to study like you never had before. It depends what kind of high school you are coming from, but depending on your study habits now you're most likely going to have to change them.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
Personally I am a commuter, but I have many friends in the dorms and have spent some time there. Comparing the dorm size to other colleges they are smaller at Findlay. On the positive side though, the buildings themselves are smaller so you get to know everyone. I don't hear very many complaints. Just have your mini fridge and bring a lot of pictures of friends and family and you'll be fine.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
Meh. On college visit day there will be awesome food. That is the only time you will see this food. Other times it is good, but not excellent. There are always desserts that are very good. They have vegetarian options as well as a salad area, pasta, chicken and hamburgers stations. Take your pick.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
The campus constantly has activities going on and there are many many different clubs and organizations to be a part of. You won't be bored. Just check your email or look at all of the banner across campus to see what's going on. The town of Findlay itself is awesome too. There are tons of restaurants and a decent mall.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
It's expensive, but considering it is a private school it could be worse. If you did good in high school you will get a nice scholarship from the university itself. Apply to any outside scholarships you are eligible for, you won't regret it.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
You name it, Findlay has it. Just pay attention the beginning of the semester and you will find the right clubs/activities for you.
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
This campus is a very safe campus and I have never been concerned for my safety. I had some classes that ended around 9PM and I always felt safe. There are several emergency centers on the sidewalks where you can press a button and help will come. I don't think it ever gets used though because it's never needed.
