i love slu and i recommend it to anyone who is serious about their education. i have been told by some that have transferred from lsu that it is just as good if not better with a much reasonable tuition. i am proud to be an slu lion!
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
come expecting to learn and prepared to work. stay focused and use the tools the school has to offer. remember that college will only be what you make of it. no one will be checking up on you to make sure that you are doing your work and making it to class. everything you need to succeed is there and available to you, it's up to you to take advantage of it.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
i am a music major and so far every class i have taken has been very challenging. my teachers have pushed me to help me reach my full potential. the classes in my curriculum that are not related to music are also challenging. i do not feel in any way that my classes were too simple or useless.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
i have stayed in a shared dorm room and now i am in the dorm apartments. the apartments are better. there is room for improvement in this aspect of campus life at slu but it not terrible.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
plenty of food options. everyone should be able to find something they like in the student union between the cafeteria and the on-campus fast food restaurants. the cafeteria food is pretty good too.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
i usually hang with my friends at a coffee shop or one of the local restaurants. we go to the movies and also to local theater and music productions. i like to go to the park and just have friends over at my dorm as well. i do not have a lot of free time as a music major, so some of my fun is interacting with the others in the music building while i am there practicing.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
there are plenty of organizations and religious groups on campus that host activities throughout the semester. the school also sponsors it's own activities, especially during football season. there is always something happening.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
i prolong to a professional music fraternity sigma alpha iota. i absolutely love it. there are many different greek organizations represented on campus. there should be something for anyone who is looking for that sort of thing.
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
i feel pretty safe on campus and i'm usually in the music building until late at night. you frequently see the security cars riding around and there are many emergency call boxes all over campus.
