I love being a Southeastern Lion! I transferred here from Kansas and it was the best decision I made for myself. My classes are small and my instructors are caring and really motivate me to learn new things. There are so many opportunities to learn outside the classroom that really making learning exciting.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
Classes are challenging, but in a good way. There are opportunities for undergraduate research and getting hands on experience in labs and clinics. I'm looking at enrolling in a 2 week study abroad class next summer!
Describe the dorm life at your college.
I have some friends that live in the dorms. They are really nice. You can choose a roommate or be placed with a student. They also have private dorms. There are apartment style dorms for upperclassmen too.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
Food is great! there are many fast food restaurants in the student union. There is a buffet restaurant in the union that was just named the top college food in the state of Louisiana. Hammond downtown has a bunch of really good restaurants and bars with fresh seafood, Cajun, Mexican, pizza, sushi. And a lot of the places have live music in the evenings.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
There is always something going on somewhere on campus. There are clubs and organizations for every major, interest, and faith. Sports and tailgating. There is an athletic club on campus. The student activities association hosts events, concerts, free lunches, and competitions all year. Downtown Hammond has an active night life! Also, Hammond is less that an hour from New Orleans and just over an hour from the beach in Gulfport.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
I shopped around and Southeastern ended up being one of the cheapest options. Tuition is low, I received an out of state tuition waiver since my gpa was over 2.5. There is a book rental program where you rental all your books for $45 per class. That has saved me hundreds of dollars each semester.

Classes are all Monday through Thursday. No classes on Fridays, so every weekend is a 3 day weekend! We also get a holiday break for mardi gras!
