I am definitely learning a lot. I am just heading into my sophomore year not, and really looking forward to it. Even in my freshman year I learned so much in mostly general education courses alone. For instance, I took a China course recently where I learned so much about something I had previously had little education of. The professors are great and you can feel the passion that they have for their subjects.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
Yes! It is extremely easy to meet new friends. While living on campus definitely helps for this, you can also meet new people when you are a commuter as well. Everyone is very welcoming and accepting. As for extra-curricular activieties, there are a ton. I am personally involved in sports. The coaches are great and very informative. After my freshman year, I am having a great experience. I am very much looking forward to my sophomore year!
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Definitely! Fitchburg is one of the cheapest QUALITY schools around. All college is expensive, but for the price you pay at Fitchburg, the education is extraordinary.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Get involved! This is the best way to meet people! My freshman year I did cross country, indoor track and field, softball, intramural basketball, worked with the Athletic Trainers, and trained to be an RA. I loved every minute of it and met so many great people! Another tip I would have is to always go to class. No matter how tired or lazy you feel, remember that every class you skip is costing you money. One professor told us that missing one class is basically equivalent to throwing $100 down the drain. Don't do this! Also, you need to work hard. Don't put your social life before your studies.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
I feel Fitchburg is great for all types of students. However, our most common majors include Nursing, Education, and Business, Criminal Justice and Film. I am personally involved in the Exercise Science program and I absolutely love it.
