Am learning a lot
This School excels in every program that they provide. Barry makes sure that you learn everything that you need to learn that will help you in future classes and in your career. Teachers are always there to help you and they allow questions at anytime. I am a Photography major and the teachers in this field help and give constructive criticism. As with all majors the faculty is very helpful.
Am enjoying being here
Barry is a school where there are school sponsored events. There are plenty of dances and the student activities Departments take you on trips everywhere and most of them are free. This school is in a very isolated area so you have to make your fun.
Bang for the buck
You definitely get your moneys worth when it comes to the education and equipment provided for your major. You are able to rent equipment and the bonus is this is one of the few schools where you do not have to pay for laundry! That is always a plus.
Tips for prospective students
Do your research for every school.
Read the student handbooks so you can learn everything that the schools offer (i.e clubs and organizations)
Make sure you go for a visit and do not just go by what they tell you ask other students.
Register early so you can get the classes you want
Determine if you are willing to sacrifice some fun for a good eduction
Great for these types of students
College of Art and Sciences Majors
People looking for a diverse school
Students wanting to get involved

Well Barry is very expensive, but the learning experience you will get there is well worth what you pay to go there.

Great for these types of students
This school is very good for students who are serious about their career, because Barry offers lots of options and you will get the best learning one on one as you would not just get anywhere else.

Barry is a SMALL private school that attends to those who are serious about their future careers. It has everything a person needs to be a successful and happy student. The campus is really nice and it is a comfortable place to be.
Tips for prospective students
Don't come to barry if you are not serious about your education because you will hate it. There is a non existent party life on campus because quite frankly, if you are doing well in all of your classes, you probably won't have time to party. Bring lots of snacks and dorm-preparable foods because the on campus dining can get really redundant by the second semester. Also, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! you will be miserable. Those who procrastinated got C's while those who didn't got A's.
Academic Rigor
The teachers here are hard but very very willing to help you. I am a Biology Pre-Dent major and I've never had a problem with my teachers. They teach well but require the student to do A LOT of out-of-classroom study time. Read read read and you will do fine. Utilize the math lab and writing labs because they really do help.
Dorm Life
The dorms are nice depending on where you live. Freshmen dorms aren't the greatest but I had nothing to complain about. If you live in sage, browne or MD hall, you are fine. If you live in D and D or weber, you might not have such a great experience. The upperclass dorms are nice also. They are however, improving the facilities on campus.
Food and Dining
The food here is AMAZING for about the first four months, then you get sick of it. I stopped eating at the WOW by about January and started eating at the BUC stop, which can be pricey. So i stocked up on lots of snacks, noodles, mac n cheese, and it worked out. I didn't even like walking to the student union to eat so the snacks worked out well.
What to do for fun
Join lots of clubs to keep you preoccupied! If you don't, you will be bored. Join academic clubs and activity clubs. Take ISR classes and join and intramural. Between study time, these were great ways to keep active. On the weekends a lot of people go out to the clubs because we are in Miami. They will not disappoint. Just go with the right people!
Bang for the buck
Many people complain about the tuition, but Barry practically throws money at you. This school is way cheaper than the schools up north. For the tuition you get an excellent education with great and available teachers, decent food, good living spaces and tons of extra-currics.
Great for these types of students
This school is great for students who are intelligent, serious about their careers, likes a relaxing environment and likes to get involved with clubs and organizations.
Clubs and Activities
There are many clubs on campus from student government to dance to sports to pre-professional and research. You can pretty much find several that you will enjoy being a part of. The RA staff also held a lot of fun events throughout the year.
Greek Life
Not really relevant on campus, but I think we will be getting more chapters next year. All of their parties are off campus.
Campus Safety
They are nice people and are stationed everywhere. They escort you from dorm to dorm after 8pm (which is really useful during finals week) and check ID when you enter the gates after 6PM.

it's a very expensive school but i believe it's worth it
Great for these types of students
being that it's expensive it wouldn.t be wise to go if your not serious about bettering yourself. but if you are barry is a excellent chioce.

Barry University is a very good academic school. They will help you do what you want to do, not what the school thinks you should do. They are also a very friendly school as well as host many events here on campus.
Tips for prospective students
Always reach for quality, not quantity
Own up to your own mistakes
Academic Rigor
The academic challenge would be based on your major. My major is Business Management, so I really have to be good in math, which i am.!
Dorm Life
Some of the freshman dorms need to be redone, but the others are wonderful!
Food and Dining
Awesome food... sometimes
What to do for fun
PLENTY of activities to choose from...
Clubs and Activities
PLENTY of clubs to choose from or you could even create your own

Greek life is SO much fun. It really makes you want to join all of them.
Campus Safety

location is not the best, but the campus is clean and easy to find. it is a catholic school, however anybody and everybody is welcome. it is my first semester and so far i like it.
Tips for prospective students
if you do come make sure you will be able to pay, Barry is a bit expensive. on the good side they have many majors and minors available. things that one shold find as soon as possible on campus is the library and cafeteria, they are the most important locations.
Academic Rigor
so far all classes require a research paper, for athletic training. the professors are very helpful if you look for help. they assume you understand everything, so when falling behind it is important to ask questions. plus there really is no reason to fall behind, for the most part everyone wants to see students here succeed; the faculty are really useful and helpful
Food and Dining
they have a buffet every day, aside from having the usual hamburgers and pizza they have a variety of foods from other countries. the best part it is $7.00 only. drinks are included and you can have what you want how many times you want. aside from that they have vending machines and a couple of other shacks to get some snacks.

I am a double major in Criminology and Biomedical Forensic Photography Major, every time I attend class I learn something new. The teacher actually knows who you are and what work you have done (or not done) in their class. You learn that criticism is not to hurt you, but to make you into the best student that you can be and succeed through your work.
Am enjoying being here
Barry University is a very diverse place, you will meet people from all over the world and will be able to share your culture with others. Barry also has many student organizations where one can meet the people that will always be there for you.
Bang for the buck
Barry is a private Catholic University and because of this both FL residents and outside residents get charged the same amount for tuition. The good thing is that Barry does accept any outside scholarships and based on your FAFSA they assist you with scholarships and loans.
Tips for prospective students
1. Stay on top of your financial aid (even if it means to go to the Business and Financial Aid office once a month)
2. Make sure that you know deadlines for payments and the changes made to your account
3. Park in areas that you can park, otherwise your car will be towed and you will get a ticket.
4. Join an organization or more, and be involved.
5. Most resident Halls are not that bad, just remember its an old university but in Fall 2012, there will be a new resident hall & if you can apply to live in the houses around campus.
6. If you are not Catholic, Barry doesn't mind they will accept anyway.
7. Focus on your studies, the better that you do the more that will shine.
8. Moonlight Madness is one of the most sporting events that the school hosts.
Great for these types of students
For students who:
like to be involved
like for their teachers to know who they are
like diversity
enjoy being in a city full of life

Barry works hard to make sure their students have activities. They try their best to accommodate all students, and the most of the staff are considerate people.
Tips for prospective students
Do NOT come here only because it is located in Miami, and they have awarded you scholarship money. With those motives your chances of actually enjoying Barry University may be affected, research the school first.
Academic Rigor
I have enjoyed all of my teachers except for 1 out of my whole freshman year. I like the small class sizes, the hands on teachers, and the resources available for students.
Dorm Life
While I loved my first year, I could have had better living situations. The housing was livable but I usually needed to call maintenance a few times a month for help.
Food and Dining
Starting out the food was fine, as the semester progressed it got old. The food actually isn't that bad if you're not used to eating it. Although I wasn't a fan of the food by second semester the school likes to switch it up so it's okay.
What to do for fun
Barry University has many clubs to keep students busy. They also have a LOT of functions for us a few times a month, as well as shuttles to take the students to the mall for entertainment.
Bang for the buck
Although Barry is pricey, most of the students are there on a scholarship so that helps with costs. While it is pricey Barry provides the students with an event for every holiday, added to the small events that they have. The class sizes are small, and they are building brand new housing as well as other additions to the campus. Barry also offers classes to help you stay fit such as Yoga, Pilates, Spinning, Kick Boxing, and Zumba for those that like to focus on fitness.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Every Halloween Barry has this BIG zombie vs. humans game where the students literally play tag for a week as the zombies turn the humans into zombies. They also have a festival of Nations that they host every year to give the international students a chance to share their culture.
Great for these types of students
Barry University is GREAT for students that want to attend a smaller University without going to a major school and lacking on campus life. It is also really good for students that like to et involved with school spirit and likes to attend school functions.
Clubs and Activities
There is a club for EVERYONE and if you do not think so then it is easy to start your own at Barry.
Greek Life
While I did not get a chance to explore Greek Life, and can not say much about it. I do feel that our Greek Life is nothing like what people typically think.
Campus Safety
They have 24 hour security, patrolling the campus as well as checking that guests that come in and out the residence halls. We also have public safety transportation that takes students to other parts of the campus after 8pm free of charge.
