Review of Auburn University

from Madison, AL

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

Every class I have taken at Auburn has taught me something. Of course, I've learned more about the particular subject, but I've learned life lessons as well. My English professor this semester taught me that If something is deep and meaningful to you, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks about it. My Italian professor taught me that you can't always follow the rules. My Auburn Experience professor taught me more about Auburn than anyone else. I'm learning how to meet people and deal with people that are different from me, and I'm learning how to live on my own. I cannot list everything that I've learned from just my first semester at Auburn.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE being at Auburn. I am heavily involved in the Christian Student Center, and I have made so many close friends through that campus ministry. I've already met people that I know I'll stay in touch with after my Auburn years. I participate in intramural sports like volleyball and flag football, which are good ways to meet people on campus and stay active. Living in the dorms (at least for freshman year) has also helped me meet people and get to know campus better.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

I believe Auburn is worth every penny. I was awarded a scholarship, but I still had to take out student loans. It's worth it, because Auburn is incredible.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Just smile. Everyone at Auburn is nice. Don't be afraid of your professors or your suitemates. Make the most of EVERYTHING and go to as many home football games as possible.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Everyone can find his or her place in the Auburn family. I'm serious.
