William J. Pokel Memorial Scholarship
Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region
Bill Pokel was an educator for over 33 years and a lifelong learner. He earned three separate degrees at the University of WisconsinMadison and was an avid supporter of his alma mater. Bill began his career as a middle school teacher and coach in Oconomowoc, then moved on to East Troy for his first administrative post. He served as an elementary school principal in Neenah from 1988 until his unexpected death in 2010. Throughout his career, he
encouraged both students and staff to discover, develop, and share their unique gifts. The hallmarks of his leadership style reflected the ways he chose to live: with optimism, innovation, collaboration, and humor. Bill was passionate about his faith and his family, and proud to be an active member of this community.
This scholarship is for graduating seniors from Neenah High School who also graduated from Wilson Elementary School in Neenah and are planning to attend an accredited university, college, or technical college.
