This scholarship is for a Shiawassee County area senior or graduate (preference given to Durand High School seniors/graduates) who plans to study journalism. The applicant should have a well-rounded high school curriculum, primarily based on college preparatory coursework. An enthusiasm for journalism is more important than grade point average. The applicant must desire to pursue print journalism. In declining priority, electronic journalism followed by general journalism would be acceptable pursuits.
