Jeptha Wade Schureman Scholarship Program
Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan
This scholarship is for high school seniors and current college students who are graduating or graduated from a high school in one of the following Michigan counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Lenawee, Washtenaw, Livingston, or St. Clair. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be fatherless through either death or permanent termination of parental rights while the applicant was still a minor. Applicants cannot have an adoptive father at the time of application. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA; pursue a degree in law, nursing, medicine, or dentistry; and demonstrate financial need. They must also demonstrate leadership and character through extracurricular activities, service in school and community, volunteer involvement, and paid work experience. Scholarship recipients must apply to or be admitted to one of the 15 nonprofit, public universities in Michigan as full-time students. Preference will be given to candidates between the ages of 17 and 27 and those who lived in a qualifying county throughout high school.
