My professors are very explanatory in what they teach. Many professors bring in visual aids and take time to draw diagrams and pictures on the boards. Overall, I do learn a lot because of the efficiency of the professors and the school. They do not play. If you do not plan to take the classes seriously, do not attend because they definitely make you work for your grades.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
I really like the classroom setting. None of my classes are too larger. My professors actually know my name and they openly answer and ask for questions during lecture. Many of the professors also go out of their way to help you succeed.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Take advantage of the free tutoring centers. There is a biology, chemistry, english, and math tutoring center that offer peer tutoring for most of the day. The library offers a very quiet study atmosphere especially if you are lucky enough to get one of the quiet rooms. Each student is assigned to a specific adviser in your field that you are expected to meet with once a week. They keep you in the right direction. Also, the drill class for chemistry, although annoying sometimes, allows for more instruction time during chem lecture classes.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Try to get living arrangements off campus because the freshman dorms are not that great. They are one bedroom, two people, with community bathrooms. There is no kitchen. The only thing you can use is a microwave in the lobby area of each floor. The centralized air conditioning is also annoying because often times it is way too hot, especially during winter.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
Students that truly care about furthering their education in the medical field definitely important here. Although the school does have Art and Music majors also, most of the attending students major in a science or math. The Science department is phenomenal.
