UWGB offers a one-of-a-kind college experience, from smaller class-size experiences to private bathrooms in the residence halls and even the joy of enjoying nature right on campus. I personally have been able to accomplish so much as student here, that maybe I wouldn't have had the chance to do at bigger universities.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
If you're looking for a smaller campus experience, this is a great campus to check out! Average class sizes are smaller and you get the chance to know your professors on a more personal level. UWGB isn't located right in the middle of the city, so you can also enjoy the peacefulness that encompasses the campus.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
As a business student, I know I am getting the best education possible through the Interdisciplinary programs that are offered here. To obtain my degree, not only do I have to complete business courses, but also courses related to it in other academic areas, such as Accounting and Economics.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
The residence halls at UWGB are definitely unique! They give you plenty of space to share with a roommate and the best part is the private bathroom that comes in each room. No need to share showers with numerous other people. In addition to the res halls, UWGB offers on-campus apartment housing, with shared and private bedrooms. There really is no need to ever move off campus because the apartment style housing is very similar to being in an off-campus apartment. Also, UWGB does a great job of keeping the rooms and furniture in the best condition possible.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The food on-campus is good and lots of different choices. I definitely have my favorite entrees! Just make sure you don't get the same thing every day, otherwise you will get sick of it very quickly.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
Campus life offers many opportunites to keep yourself busy. All sporting events are free for students so there's no reason not to go. Men's and women's basketball games are a blast, and sometimes have free giveaways. There's also numerous dances on campus and 'UWGB Nites' offers free food, crafts, and activities once a month. To keep youself even more busy, it is defintely recommended joing an org or two. There's also the Kress Center that has a fitness center, intramurals, and fitness classes.
If you're looking to get out into the community, Green Bay has so much to offer; most importantly, the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field is just a quick drive away from campus!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Every student has to at least once visit the Chapel in the Woods. It's right on the Aboretum trails. Some say it's haunted, but I'm not into that. :)
Which types of students will excel at your college?
UWGB is a great place for anyone interested in a small school in a big city. The campus and community have so much to offer students
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
Green Bay has over 100 orgs to choose from. There is something for everybody! Go to the org fair every fall and spring semester to see what clubs might be right for you! And if there isn't already an org that you are interested in, you can start your own with just a few prerequisites.
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
I feel completely safe at UWGB. Public Safety, the campus police force, are on duty 24/7 and are always around patrolling campus. All paths on campus are well-paved and well-lit and there is no reason to stray from the paths late at night. If you do feel threatened by anything, call Public Safety and they will help you out however possible.
