I have learned a great variety of things. I have been academically prepared for the future for a promising career and mentally coached for independence. The instructors are awesome and they are available whenever you need them.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
I enjoy Upstate for the academic environment. Socially, however, people tend to stay in their cliques; it's very easy to notice the freshmen. You HAVE to be willing to get to know people for yourself, and not wait for people to come to you all the time. It's not like high school; the upperclassmen are more than willing to help anyone get around or just need some advise. Mostly everyone is friendly, but like I said you have to speak up!
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
College anywhere is expensive, but Upstate is reasonable. Their prices definitely math the quality.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
If you're in high school try to earn college credits in your last years or the summer of your senior year. Look for as many scholarships; www.fastweb.com and www.collegeboard.com is a great site.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
USC Upstate is great for students who prefer smaller classrooms, seeking a nursing degree, educational degree, ROTC, criminal justice, or any type of IT degree. There are many other degrees that's offered here. You can check them out at http://www.uscupstate.edu/academics/default.aspx?id=26472 .
