I love the University of North Georgia! I love the class size, the mountainous scenery and how kind everyone is. It's easy to adapt to and I feel that it is very possible to get involved and excel at this university.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Make sure to stay healthy by eating right and exercising. Otherwise, you will gain the freshman 15 like I did! Also, make sure to balance you social life, sleep and academics.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
All of the professors are here to help you succeed. Make sure to use their office hours and inquire help when you need it!
Describe the dorm life at your college.
I have lived in traditional on-campus housing for the past two years. It is convenient in that you can easily participate in on-campus activities and wake up late for class. It is not a five-star stay but it is worth it!
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The food at chow is okay. It depends on the day. However, there are lots of options in case you do not want the main course meals they provide.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
There are several ways to be involved on campus. You can join Greek Life, intramural sports teams, or get involved with clubs that promote one of your interests. Outside of school activities you can explore the outdoors or make your own fun.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
The University of North Georgia is certainly the best value for the money you pay. Make sure you take Dr. Van Sickle for U.S. History and Dr. Best for Accounting!
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Every day at 5 pm everyone on campus stops what they are doing to pay respect to our military servicemen and women. A trumpet plays and members of the Corps of Cadets sound off a canon to commemorate these brave souls.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
This school is typically best the small town, simple kind of student who is looking for a school that they can easily become involved with. Also for those who love the outdoors, as the campus is surrounded by mountains.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
There is SO MUCH to be involved in. Everything from Greek Life to an American Sign Language Club. If you have an interest, there is probably a club for it. And if not, you can start your own!
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
Greek life is not really my thing, but everyone I know who is involved with Greek life absolutely loves it. They are very involved on campus and are proud of their sister and brotherhoods. If that is your thing, you'll find a great Greek home here!
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
I feel incredibly safe on this campus. Local police drive through the campus on a regular basis, especially at night, so there are no worries. As a girl, I am never afraid to walk through the parking lot alone at night, and that is a huge relief!
