Review of University of North Carolina at Greensboro
from Welcome, NC
Do you feel you’re learning a lot?
The professors are great. I have not had a class Ive hated. The Classical Studies department is excellent. Never a dull moment with those professors. Professors are usually very understanding to those who are actively trying in the class. They will help you when you ask. If students are having trouble with a class there are free tutoring, a speaking center, writing center and a 24/7 library all on campus. Help is always at you finger tips. You just have to ask.
Do you enjoy the experience at your school?
During the week the campus is busy and there are many things to do but on weekends students (including myself) goes home. Even though there are many things around to do such as the nearby Four Seasons Mall, resturantsI and the many movie theaters it all cost money and most college students like myself are completely broke. If you find the right people to hang out with weekends can be a blast.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Double majoring is the best way to get more for your money. Try to choose majors that are close together so they can be coordinated better. The dorms are Ok. I stayed in the highrises. The only issue I have ever had with the highrises is the noise. It is not to bad but it can be quite annoying at times. The best dorms are Ragsdale and Phillip/HawkinsThe food in the Cafe is not the best. It is buffet style with grills and stations around the edges. If you can be patient and wait in line at the grills and stations the food is pretty good. Not to mention the desert bar.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
1)If you are worried about making friends join a residential college. There are many at UNCG. FYE, Warren-Ashby, Live Learn and many more. They provide opportunties for making friends and also gives you more access to help for classes.
2)If you are having problems with your roommate talking to them is the best way.
3)If you are struggling there are always someone to help you in every subject. Don't be afraid to ask.
4)Get involved any way you can. It looks great on your resume, it gives you a chance to make a difference on campus and you can make many friends.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
Any and all types of students. The diversity of people here is great.
