Describe your college in three sentences.

UNL is big, but not as big as it initially seems. There will definitely be something that interests you. Find your niche or enjoy exploring all your options.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

If you're nervous about fitting in or making friends, don't be. This is especially true if you have friends, but also works for people on their own. One of my new friends was homeschooled in Alaska, and she adapted to college easier than any of the people I already knew.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

I'm in the honors program, which is great and offers a lot of opportunities that regular students don't get. The rigor of your coursework will of course depend on your major, but it's definitely manageable as long as you care about what you're learning.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

There are some dorms and floors that are more into the party life and some that care more about studying and education. You may not find the right dorm your first year, but that's cool. Talking to older students is a super great gateway into finding your ideal living space.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Varies. Some days are great and some are just okay. There are also days where you just aren't feeling any of the food options. The Student Union has a Starbucks, Runza, and Subway (among other things) and there are three grab and go lunch options, along with every residence hall having an in-hall dining location.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

I certainly haven't experienced it all, but UNL is just walking distance from downtown Lincoln, in addition to the two museums on campus and of course, GAMEDAY.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

I feel like I'm getting the full college experience and I can pay for the experience without excessive loans. ~20,000/year with room and board. Scholarships are pretty generous.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

The squirrels. They just walk all over the place and everyone loves them. I've gotten within a foot of a squirrel before it decided to move, and I probably would have ended up walking around it.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Anyone who wants a big city type of feel without the cost of living of a big city. Nebraska football fans - I think they have the most fun. Really everyone, Nebraska wasn't my first choice but I've learned to love it.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There really is something for everyone. There are standard clubs, like intramurals and language clubs. There are also things that are more niche, like a club where you build and launch a rocket and a club for soap carving.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

I have never once felt uncomfortable on campus. One of my friends walked five miles from city to east campus every day last semester, and even though she was paranoid, she was never hurt.
