I loved it! Small, good size campus with a small student to teacher ratio and professors that are willing to help. It was a wonderful experience.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Do not sit back and slack off. The professors are nice, do not take advantage of them. Do your work and turn it in on time. Professors are happy to help if you don't understand.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
I was taking general ed classes so in my opinion they were not very difficult. If you do have trouble, the best thing to do is ask the professor. Go into their office and ask them to help you. They know the material best. After all, they are teaching it.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
There are three on campus housing complexes. One of them is directly on campus right next to the cafeteria, their dorms do not have kitchens. The other two dorm complexes had kitchens in them. Just make sure you share a dorm with friends and work out cleaning schedules.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The met, the cafeteria, is okay but not that great to have every day. Food there was good just not what I would like every day. I found my self eating at the Chick-fil-A, Subway, and Grilled Works that are upstairs a lot. All of which are good.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
All the dorms have recreational hang outs and there is on on campus to. There are swimming pools, pool tables, as well as a gym to run or work out in. There is the Broadway Square Mall to hang at and other things to do in the city. It's a lot of fun being at UT Tyler.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
As far as dorms go, U Pines is the cheapest dorm. And i suggest one of the cheaper meal plans. One that has the fewest visits to the met and a lot of dining dollars. Eat breakfast in the dorm, lunch on campus, and make dinner if you can. You can also do work study.
