Review of Texas Tech University

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

The teachers here are AMAZING. No joke. I took a nap after one of my finals since I had time before my next one, and when I woke up I had missed my ISQS final! But, my teacher was super understanding and let me take a different final in his office that night. Don't be afraid to go introduce yourself to your teachers at the beginning of the semester. Go to class everyday, ask questions and go to their office hours, because when it comes to the end of the semester and you need those extra few points to boost your grade, if they know you and saw that you were a dedicated student throughout their class, they will have no problem helping you out. Plus, some teachers give pop quizzes for extra credit so it's beneficial if you go to class everyday.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I absolutely love going here. It honestly is that real college experience. There are many things you can join and get involved in. Greek life is amazing and a great way to make new friends. I really enjoyed rushing and ending up at an amazing house with a group of girls I can call my sisters. I also am really involved with my church since they have a great student association. I'm on staff and everyone there is like family to me. Honestly, get involved because these people are not just your class mates for the next few years but they are your 2nd family. Tech is your home away from home!

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Being away from home and going to school can be very overwhelming. Sometimes you can get caught up with just having fun and not having parents around that you forget that you are there for school. Don't feel like your alone if you start falling behind in grades. This isn't high school or community college, so yes, its meant to be challenging. I didn't do well my first semester and neither did a lot of my friends. So second semester we were all put in a strategies for learning class called XL. Honestly, best class I've ever taken. You don't have to be failing to take this class, and everyone should take it as a freshman. This class just taught me so much about myself and how to succeed not only in college but in life! This class is small so it was easy to make friends in. We played games and did fun activities, like a scavenger hunt across the whole campus! This class isn't for a grade, it's solely to help you learn about yourself and how you learn best. It was nice having one class that i didn't have to worry about so much and that was actually fun, and i advise anyone and everyone to take it! Just don't forget to get involved, go to class, and just have fun!
