Overview

St. John’s College is the third oldest college in the United States and famous for the distinctive Great Books curriculum. Students read over 200 of the greatest books ever written, discuss them in classes of 20 students or fewer, and, instead of choosing a major, study in an interdisciplinary curriculum that includes philosophy, literature, mathematics, history, physics, politics, biology, music, and more. Students can choose between two campuses in Annapolis, Maryland, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Annapolis campus, in the downtown of the vibrant capital of Maryland, is home to students who love the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, nearby Washington, DC, and joining a close-knit community of thinkers and seekers.

Additional Costs
Room and Board The weighted average for room and board and other expenses is generated as follows:
  • (amount for on-campus room, board and other expenses * # of students living on-campus.
  • + amount for off-campus (with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus with family
  • + amount for off-campus (not with family) room, board and other expenses * # of students living off-campus not with family)
divided by the total # of students. Students whose living arrangements are unknown are excluded from the calculation. For some institutions the # of students by living arrangement will be known, but dollar amounts will not be known. In this case the # of students with no corresponding dollar amount will be excluded from the denominator.
