Benjamin's Review

Review of Simpson College

from Des Moines

Describe your college in three sentences.

Small campus and very quiet. I got a personal tour while classes were in session which was cool. Met with an admissions advisor who answered all of my questions.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Try to visit when school is in session. They will even let you sit in one of the classes and observe. Make an appointment for a private tour. If you are into music programs, ask for time with the department head.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Tough to get in, but worth it if you are looking for something small near a larger metro. Guaranteed internships are also a draw.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Freshman are required to live in the dorms and there are lots of planned activities.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Evidentially one of the coffee shops is named after a girl ghost of a former student who died falling down the stairs. I didn't try the food during my visit, but there looked to be ample options.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Go to games. Lots of dorm activities.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Someone looking for a small campus where the teachers know you by name. (And will notice when you aren't in class).
