Vincenzo's Review

Review of Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus

from Pittsburgh, PA

In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

The classes I’m taking help me to expand my knowledge in meaningful ways that pertain to my career path and interest me.

How are you enjoying your time at this college?

I am enjoying it, the campus is very calm and small so there isn’t much going on, but I’d rather that then somewhere that feels too unhinged.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

Don’t overthink it. College seems a lot more difficult than it actually is, just take everything one day at a time and you’ll have plenty of time to do things you like to do.

What qualities do you have that have best prepared you for success at this institution?

I’m very diligent about doing my work and try as hard as I can to make sure I’m giving the best results and always completing tasks assigned to me.

In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?

I believe it helps them stay punctual and keeps them on track with learning and reaching goals for their education, as well as providing breathing room for relaxation.

How would you describe the dorm life at this school?

I believe the dorms are accommodating and everyone is friendly to each other. The RAs do their best to make sure there is plenty of events to do and that everything stays running well.

How would you describe the food and dining options?

The food is pretty decent. I wouldn’t say absolutely 5 star but it is pretty good for what it is, and you have plenty of options to choose from.

In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?

There are plenty of events happening around, even if this is one of the calmer campuses. You will find something to do if you look at the events list on the Behrend Sync app.

In what clubs or organiziations have you participated and how have they impacted your overall experience?

Ashamed to admit I didn’t join any clubs or organizations but it was my first year and I intend to this upcoming year, I did go to a few events hosted by clubs and everyone was very nice and welcoming.

Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?

Behrend bingo nights are a pretty unique and interesting thing we do.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

The office of personal counseling makes it very easy to reach out if you ever need mental help, and they host many events as well. The campus overall is very safe.

How has your college supported your career development and future goals?

My advisor has been very helpful in getting me to prioritize which classes I should be scheduling to stay on course with my career. All the classes I’ve taken directly related to my major have kept me very motivated and interesting in pursuing my career path.
