Review of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology

from Socorro, NM

Describe your college in three sentences.

New Mexico Tech is wildly underrated by prospective students. It's so small that opportunities are abundant. Classes are excellent.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Take your high school GPA and testing very seriously, because financial aid is based on those two facets, alone.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Tech is excellently challenging! For anyone wanting to pursue science or engineering, Tech is absolutely a wonderful choice to learn a lot, and get research experience under your belt.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

My experience in the dorms has been amazing, and compared to other schools, room and board expenses are nonexistent!

Describe the food and dining at your college.

I'll admit that the food starts to taste not-so-good after a little while. Still, there are healthy choices and a pretty good variety, and the servers are very kind and know me by name.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

I recommend joining a club and participating on campus as much as possible!

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

New Mexico Tech is SO cheap, but a GREAT SCHOOL! I know so many students who don't even have to go in debt to attend, and graduate with a bachelors, making above $70,000 starting salary.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Almost everyone. I have met students of every walk of life, and I have yet to hear anyone say that they are actually not happy here.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There's a pretty wide variety of clubs and on-campus activity.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

We have one fraternity and one sorority, both of which are pretty mild. They are very friendly, and it's easy to join.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Campus Police are there in a second if you need them--but no one ever does!
