Grace's Review

Review of Marquette University

from Orland Hills, IL

In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

I feel I am growing socially, as I have been able to make and maintain friendships at Marquette while also being able to focus on my academics. I am learning more about myself (ex: new hobbies I can enjoy through clubs, what I am interested in career-wise, etc.) and am also learning more about the topics surrounding my career path through my coursework.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

Dont be afraid to branch out in the first week of school, because thats the best time to make friends and get to know your way around campus. I also recommend having a slightly lighter course load during first semester so its easier to adjust to college life, and learn about what resources are available through the school. Another tip is to make sure to take advantage of any events or opportunities you find interesting, as well as attend O-Fest at the beginning of the year to be informed about all the different clubs that are offered here.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

Marquette University has campus police along with a phone number to call them in case of emergencies, and another number for non-emergencies. There are also various staff designated to talk with students if they are having mental health problems, a number to call if you're facing mental health issues, and free counseling appointments that you can schedule at the Wellness Center.

How has your college supported your career development and future goals?

They assign academic advisors to you, have a center for student success, and require academic advisor appointments at certain times throughout the year. You can also schedule appointments via drop-in or online for various topics, including but not limited to: getting started with your career, choosing a major, resumes, internships, developing career goals, and planning for graduate school.
