Jersey's Review
Review of Illinois College
In what clubs or organiziations have you participated and how have they impacted your overall experience?
I was lucky enough to come into Illinois College joining the Drumline where I have found my favorite people. The people within this group and the music society make the environment feel so welcoming and positive and I never have to pretend to be someone I am not when it comes to these individuals. I also get to share my love for music with these individuals as well which is super cool!
Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?
I find it so interesting that all of us students will make sure to avoid stepping on the seal because of the "legend" if you step on the seal you won't graduate and the only way to break the curse is to rub the nose of Abraham Lincoln's statue dog near the seal.
How has your college supported your career development and future goals?
I am apart of TRIO so they are very encouraging when it comes to career development and future goals. For one of my TRIO classes they encouraged us to interview many individuals in the field of work we are interested in and to see what we learned from it and if it still interested us, the students who didn't do this in our TRIO class was due to them getting an internship. Not only that but we also have Grad School trips coming up to help prepare us so as a first gen student I think is so cool to be able to have this opportunity and be able to get a perspective on Grad School or even my future career.
