from Payson, IL

In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

I am learning and growing through my hands on experiences in clinical situations. I am able to apply exactly what I am learning in class with confidence.

How are you enjoying your time at this college?

I am enjoying my time by staying involved. I am the president of APO and wouldn't change it for the world. I have met my future bridesmaids through this school.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

One tip I can share is to get out of your comfort zone. Meeting new people and trying new things is what makes college so great.

What qualities do you have that have best prepared you for success at this institution?

A quality I have is staying organized. Even though I am a nursing major I am still very involved on campus. With that being said I utilize time management a lot in order to do all of the things i want to do.

In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?

The college challenges students through their liberal arts education. Although I am a nursing Major I have taken classes such as intercultural communication in order to get a well rounded education.

How would you describe the dorm life at this school?

The dorm life on campus brings so much community. We are always hanging out in the lobbies playing cards in each others room and seeing how many people we can fit into the room that has the streaming service for the next football game. It is always so much fun.

How would you describe the food and dining options?

There are two main dining options. Mondo's is like our subway and it never fails to hit the spot. Also who could go wrong with our full menu Starbucks!

In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?

At IC we have our CSEIB which is the center of student engagement involvement and belonging. The work to make sure you always have a place where you fit in best weather that is clubs or organizations pr just going to some of the many social events we have on campus.

In what clubs or organiziations have you participated and how have they impacted your overall experience?

I am a member of APO and that ha helped me so much to get out of my shell and meet new people. As a service fraternity we are also able to help our community!

Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?

One quirky tradition is that we do not walk on our seal. It is said that if you walk on the seal you will not graduate. Nobody at IC is willing to risk not graduating. In my 3 years here I have never seen someone walk on the seal.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

They support campus safety with our public safety officers. They are here 24/7 and every student has their phone number which we can call whenever we need to.

How has your college supported your career development and future goals?

They have supported my career development by showing my study strategies hosting extra tutoring events and encouraging questions via email or their available office hours.
