This school forces you to grow up fast and prepares you for real world work experience. When you apply make sure you know which major you want to spend the next couple of years on. It is hard to switch majors because you have to reapply to the school.

Depending on your major the academic rigor may be different. Business students have a lot of reading and writing while design students put a lot of hours into their projects. The rigor depends on your past experience and knowledge.

Dorm life is recommended for at least a semester. It gives you the opportunity to meet many different kinds of people. There is always some type of event going on where you can get free food and prizes or just have the chance to make a new friend.

The food in the dining hall is decent. You have the choice to pick from stuff on a grill, deli, sushi, home cooked meals station, pizzeria, salad station and a global station. The menus changes at most of the stations daily. There is also a Starbucks that is located in the dining hall.

The school is located in the heart of NYC so you're steps away from tons of attractions. If you don't feel like walking getting around is easy since the 1 subway line is located right by campus. There are also tons of parks to go to on a nice day.

FIT is a state university so you are getting a great education at one of the top fashion schools for a good price.

Be on the lookout when the weather is nice there is always something going on in the Breezeway (Flea Markets and performers). Also make sure you go to the Block Party at the end of the year. There is free food and attractions, last year there was a zip-line that went down 27th street.
