Review of Evangel University

Describe your college in three sentences.

Evangel University is a Liberal Arts university with a Christian environment. Christians can come to EU for any degree and avoid the monotonous temptations of a secular university. Although EU is a Liberal Arts university with vocational ministry minded people, one can still receive Pastoral Ministry and Missionary degrees.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Come in with an understanding that there are certain guidelines you have to live by when coming to Evangel University. Although there are certain guidelines, they are really not that bad. If you are a Christian, then it should not be a big deal. They are set to keep us accountable. Also, be prepared to be challenged to think. Not only is this an academic setting where you will learn, but you will be challenged to process what you have always been taught to determine what you hold as truth based on your own understanding.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Academia here at EU is average, at least from what I gathered. I mean I have not studied anywhere else. It just depends on how much a person likes what they are studying. If they don't like it and don't pay attention then they are likely to not do so well. If they like the area of study, then they will likely spend more time and effort into it. I feel like it is like that with anything and anywhere one goes.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Dorm life is awesome! All the dorms will have been renovated by the fall of 2013. They are nice with the option of having your own room for a fee of course. They are suite styles with one bath. So, two bedrooms with a bath and shower in between that they share. There is no kitchen area, but most people eat in the Cafeteria. It's a great place to build relationships and meet new life long relationships.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The food is great. We actually just got a new director of the food and it has made a big improvement. There is an area for quick lunches and stuff to go, and a all you can eat cafeteria.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

There are pool tables, ping pong tables, disc golf, basketball court, racquetball, tennis near by, TVs, and our Student Activities always has some fun activity planned for students such as DVD bingo.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

It is a private university so it is a little more expensive than state schools; however, this would mean the cost is the same for everyone, even out of state students.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Students who are Christians and want to live in a Christian environment. There are required Bible classes for everyone.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There are around 60 different clubs and organizations for everyone. All kinds of academic clubs to environmental to humanitarian.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

There are security officers on campus 24/7 They are armed.
