Review of Eugene Lang College at The New School

from New York, NY

Describe your college in three sentences.

This school is everything I could've asked for and more! The intimate seminar styled classes make learning all the more interesting and engaging. Everyone at Eugene Lang are really down to earth and help remind you that its not all about Parson's students!

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

- Coffee will be your best friend - Don't take morning classes, you will regret it - Have your papers printed out before class and not last minute - Classes are discussion based, make sure to participate! (if not have at least one thing to say)

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Depending on what you are enrolled in, the academics can vary as far as how rigorous they are. All in all, the format of the classes are really nice. 10/10 recommend!

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Dorm life is okay. There are a couple different dorms depending where you are placed (Stuy, Loeb, 13th St, & Kerrey Hall). I personally live at Stuy which isn't too bad! Could have a little renovation but all in all pretty happy with it. One thing Stuy does not have are oven's by the way!

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Food is pretty good honestly. There is some stuff however the school should just avoid making but it the menu changes everyday so its no worry! All freshman are linked to a $1250 meal plan ($1000 for cafeteria, $250 for other vendors)

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

It's New York! What isn't there to do honestly. I tend to go on walks and explore the city a lot. Just put on your headphones and go! The school tends to put on a lot of side events that are cool to. You usually find a group of people you click with pretty fast and you do whatever together!

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

There are a lot of cheap eats around town, you can find a dollar pizza place just about anywhere! As far as groceries go, I tend to shop at Target. There is one in Downtown Manhattan and they just opened another near Herald Square (Where the Macy's is).

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

No unusual traditions I know of so far... Again, you tend to occupy yourself with activities you do with all your new friends!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

There are free events going on all the time. Facebook is a good place to check and keep informed on what's poppin'!

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There are a lot of extra curricular's posted at the main UC building on any wall space possible. Mostly seen in the cafeteria and the 6th floor library.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

No Greek life.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Security at every dorm won't let visitors come in without a resident signing them in with an ID. Very good. They are also really chill too! 10/10
